Buy a cookie for a good cause in Kelowna and West Kelowna from April 28 to May 4.
During the seven-day stretch, it's Tim Hortons' Smile Cookie week. For every cookie bought, 100 per cent of the proceeds will go toward the YMCA of Southern Interior BC's Healthy Snack program, which ensures all children in their programs have access to healthy food.
Last year, more than 400,000 healthy snacks were provided as a result of the campaign.
ѻýWith the rising cost of food, more and more families are struggling to afford nutritious food. Sadly, an increasing number of children are coming to us hungry,ѻý stated Tammie Watson, VP of Philanthropy at the YMCA of Southern Interior BC. ѻýFunds raised through the Smile Cookie Campaign help us ensure all children in our care receive daily healthy snacks to help nourish their minds and bodies, allowing them to shine and reach their full potential.ѻý
To add to the event this year, there will be a scavenger hunt involved. Each Tim Hortons store in Kelowna and West Kelowna will have a secret phrase on a poster in the store. When someone collects all three phrases, email giving@ymcasibc.ca to be entered to win one of two YMCA and Tim Hortons surprise gift bags.
ѻýDuring these challenging times, it is more important than ever for our community to come together and support one another,ѻý said Angelo and Dawn Fiacco, owners of Tim Hortons in Okanagan Lake Shopping Centre in West Kelowna. ѻýOur team is thrilled to be working with our local charity partner, the YMCA of Southern Interior BC, to raise funds to support the healthy and lifelong development of the children in YMCA child care programs.ѻý
