Looking to represent one of the largest and most diverse ridings in the country has one candidate taking their campaign on the road.
Leah Main, NDP candidate for VernonѻýLake CountryѻýMonashee, is going grassroots with a fully outfitted trailer designed to bring her campaign directly to the people.
She left her Silverton home April 3 with the trailer in tow and is stopping in Vernon tonight, April 4 at Namaste Restaurant for a meet and greet from 5-7 p.m.
ѻýWith new riding lines stretching from the busy urban centre of Vernon to the rural acreages near Nakusp and beyond, setting up shop in a single location simply didnѻýt make sense,ѻý said Main. ѻýWeѻýre meeting people where they are ѻý literally.ѻý
The VernonѻýLake CountryѻýMonashee riding spans more than four hours from end to end, with a ferry ride in between.
While some candidates are waiting for donated second office space and may only plan to visit rural areas occasionally, Main has hit the road.
Main is a Silverton councillor, and a long-standing director on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
ѻýI know how critical it is to hear from all voices ѻý not just the loudest or the closest,ѻý said Main. ѻýThis campaign is about building a government that works for everyone. That means being approachable, available, and flexible in how we listen and respond.ѻý
The mobile office is equipped to function as a full campaign hub, hosting pop-up events, one-on-one meetings, and volunteer activities in communities across the riding ѻý from city centres to farming communities. It reflects Mainѻýs commitment to rural inclusion, accessibility, and hands-on leadership.
ѻýThis is the peopleѻýs campaign. Weѻýre not waiting behind a desk for folks to come to us ѻý weѻýre coming to them,ѻý she added.
Main also has scheduled campaign stops in Lumby and Coldstream, with her mobile campaign schedule announced weekly on social media.
