With authentic ingredients ѻý including lots and lots of vegetables ѻý the fresh flavours of Thai cuisine are made for summer.
ѻýWhile some people think Thai food isnѻýt good for summer because it can be spicy, we have many mildly spiced dishes to choose from,ѻý notes Joe Karunyasopon, owner of, consistently voted one of Kelownaѻýs top Thai restaurants.
And with loads of fresh vegetables, sensational seafood, yummy beef, chicken, pork and more, Mon Thongѻýs Thai food is perfect for at the lake or an easy supper when youѻýd rather be soaking in the sun than cooking.
Whether youѻýre brand new to Thai cuisine or are looking for a new favourite to discover, Karunyasopon offers his top three selections for summer:
SELECTION 1: Pad Med Ma-muang Him-ma-pan ѻý Also known as No. 18 on the Mon Thong menu, savour stir-fried bell peppers, onion, celery, zucchini and cashew nuts in a delicious house sauce. The not-so-secret essential addition is cashews, a staple ingredient in Thailand where the nut is grown and harvested. While delicious on their own ѻýthey taste even better when added to a dish,ѻý Karunyasopon says.
SELECTION 2: Pad Prik Thai Dum ѻý No. 58 on the menu, the deliciously fragrant Pad Prik Thai Dum features stir-fried rice with bell peppers, carrots, onions, fresh basil and lime leaves, and finished with black pepper. Include your choice of protein ѻý chicken, beef, pork, prawns, or mixed seafood for a satisfying and oh-so-flavourful meal.
SELECTION 3: Pad See-eew ѻý No. 42 at Mon Thong, this is perfect for the hot Kelowna summer, with its variety of garden-fresh vegetables stir-fried with noodles and egg. Finish with your choice of chicken, beef, pork, veggie, prawns, or mixed seafood.
Other sun-sational favourites include a wide selection of salads, seafood and flavourful Thai curries, ranging from mild to spicy.
And, while Thai food is naturally a healthy choice, Mon Thong has taken it one step further with a new summer ѻýslim-ifyѻý menu prepared with no oil, sugar, salt or MSG, notes Joeѻýs son and restaurant manager, Ike Karunyasopon. Delicious!
