Reach for the sky on an outdoor climbing wall, balance your way across a log bridge or tap your toes to some Irish dancing ѻý gives families 53 funtastic ways to get active this Sunday.

The annual Healthy Kids Day, inside and outside the , aims to show families how much fun activity can be.

ѻýAt the YMCA of Okanagan, we believe healthy children lay the foundations for a healthy community,ѻý says Sharon Peterson, CEO of the YMCA of Okanagan. ѻýYet only nine per cent of Canadian kids between five and 17 years old are getting the recommended levels of daily exercise. Healthy Kids Day is fun, but at its core the event strives to inspire everyone to participate in the development of a thriving generation of children.ѻý

From henna tattoos and seed planting to water balloon toss and ѻýfuntasticѻý gymnastics, families have a full 53 activity stations to explore thanks to local community partners invested in kidsѻý health.

What you need to know:

Visit Healthy Kids Day, presented by Interior Savings Credit Union, from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 7 at the Enjoy an entertainment stage, prizes and a healthy barbecue from noon to 3 p.m., in addition to the activity stations. The free event includes access to the Kelowna Family Y pool and facilities, and gives parents a chance to collect resources for their familyѻýs health while kids discover new ways to play.
