A Falkland man has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash near Revelstoke Monday.
Stephen ѻýSteveѻý Babij, 51, was killed in a , while driving a semi-trailer. The March 13 fiery crash occurred at 9 a.m. when an oncoming semi lost control crossed the centre line.
Babijѻýs dog, Zak, was also killed in the crash.
The driver and a passenger in the other semi were seriously injured.
The incident involved four vehicles as a third semi collided with the crash, unable to stop, while an SUV also suffered damage. The drivers of both these vehicles suffered minor injuries.
The fire-filled crash closed Highway 1 for the majority of the day.
Babij, who was born in Vernon, leaves behind his wife and step-daughter.
He was known as the ѻýhay guyѻý, hauling hay and other items throughout Alberta, B.C. and Washington.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 20 at the Falkland Community Hall.
