Prospective employers are on the hunt for workers in Vernon April 10.

The Vernon Job Fair, organized by NexusBC Community Resource Centre in partnership with WorkBC, is Vernon乌鸦传媒檚 largest hiring event.

Recruiters and representatives from more than 20 actively hiring companies and colleges will be at the Vernon Lodge Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

乌鸦传媒淭his is an excellent opportunity to discover what jobs are available and what employers are offering as compensation and benefits,乌鸦传媒� says Lee Brinkman, NexusBC events and marketing manager.

乌鸦传媒淟ocal colleges will also be on site to answer questions and help provide career advice.乌鸦传媒�

According to labour market reports, the Thompson-Okanagan乌鸦传媒檚 unemployment rate went from 4.9 per cent in 2024 to 5.2 per cent in February 2025.

乌鸦传媒淎s the competition for jobs increases, job fairs are an excellent way to get in front of the individual who does the hiring and make that connection,乌鸦传媒� says Brinkman. 乌鸦传媒淚f you乌鸦传媒檙e looking for work or considering a career or job change, this is the absolute best place to be.乌鸦传媒�

Some pointers to keep in mind when attending a job fair: 

乌鸦传媒� Dress as if you are going to an interview; 

乌鸦传媒� Bring multiple copies of your resume;

乌鸦传媒� Know your schedule and be ready to sign up for an interview;

乌鸦传媒� Practice a 30-second sales pitch of your background;

乌鸦传媒� Be prepared for the question 乌鸦传媒� tell me a bit about yourself 乌鸦传媒� and practice your response.

NexusBC is still taking registrations from employers wishing to participate in the job fair.

乌鸦传媒淲e don乌鸦传媒檛 have as many employers participating as in past years, but we still have over 20 and that乌鸦传媒檚 a great number,乌鸦传媒� said Brinkman.
