Mounties arrested three suspects, including one wearing body armour, and seized loaded weapons and a stolen vehicle with gas cans from a hotel in Kamloops on the weekend (March 9-10).
The men, who have not been identified, have been arrested and released after an investigation led officers from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC), B.C.ѻýs integrated provincial anti-gang unit, and Kamloops RCMP to the unidentified hotel, noted CFSEU-BC in a news release issued Monday, March 11.
ѻýThe seizure of firearms by CFSEU-BC officers in partnership with the Kamloops RCMP and Southeast District Emergency Response Team has reduced the risk to the publicѻýs safety,ѻý stated CFSEU-BCѻýs Staff Sergeant Lindsey Houghton. ѻýAnytime we can take firearms out of the hands of those who might be willing to use them for criminal acts means that communities are safer.ѻý
RCMP
Due to an imminent risk to public safety, CFSEU-BC and the Kamloops RCMP, sought the support of the RCMPѻýs Southeast District Emergency Response Team. A search warrant was issued and executed in the hotel and three men were arrested.
Officers located and seized multiple loaded handguns and ammunition inside the hotel room, as well as a stolen vehicle with gasoline canisters inside it parked outside the hotel.
The men who were arrested have since been released without charges as the investigation continues.
As this is an ongoing and active investigation, no further details will be released at this time, noted RCMP.
