A Surrey man identified as being behind the wheel of a rental car that was clocked doing excessive speeds through two White Rock school zones Monday has been slapped with more than $2,000 in fines.
White Rock RCMP Const. Chantal Sears said Tuesday that a grey Volkswagen Jetta first caught the attention of officers conducting school-zone enforcement at around 3 p.m. April 1, when it whipped past White Rock Elementary at 70 km/h.
ѻýThere was a vehicle that failed to stop for police at a high rate of speed,ѻý Sears told Peace Arch News.
ѻýAnd then he continued eastbound on Roper and then the next officer that was over at Peace Arch clocked him at 110, and he failed to stop for police a second time.ѻý
The legal limit in school zones is 30 km/h.

The violations have been handed to the rental company, which will pass on the expense, Sears said.
Sears described the behaviour ѻý which also included erratic passing manoeuvres ѻý as ѻýso dangerous.ѻý
ѻýSo lucky that nobody was hit.ѻý
