Salmon Arm Silverbacks fans welcome the team home after a playoff run cut short by the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks' playoffs campaign was cut short in Sherwood Park.

After coming out on the losing end of a 3-2 tally in Games 1 and 2 at Rogers Rink, the Silverbacks travelled to Alberta for Games 3 and 4 (April 8 and 9) in their playoff series versus the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

Salmon Arm's Sherwood Park hosts did not disappoint their fans in Game 3, which ended in a 4-0 shutout. After a scoreless first frame, the Crusaders began lighting the scoreboard in the second, beginning with a power-play marker from Jeremy Loranger, who also delivered the final goal of the night, an empty netter at 18:17 in the third.

The Crusaders dominated the first period in Game 4, finishing the frame with a 3-0 lead. The Silverbacks responded at 7:22 in the second frame with a goal by Ryan Philbrick, assisted by Tucker Shedd. This was followed by another Salmon Arm marker, with Roenick Jodoin ripping the mesh off of Ben MacBeath and Maddux Martin. The frame ended with a power-play conversion by Loranger putting the score at 4-2.

Loranger picked up the hat trick early in the third frame, followed by a single from Silverback Easton Walos, off Caleb Mahar and Tanner Walos. The intense action continued with the Crusaders adding a powerplay marker at 11:35. This was followed seconds later with Jodoin getting the puck past Crusaders netminder James Venne in a penalty shot. The Crusaders would have the last word, however, with Poul Anderson delivering an empty netter at 19:51, ending the game with a 7-4 win for Sherwood Park.

While the team may have been disappointed, a group of Silverbacks fans continued to have their back, welcoming them home with love and gratitude.
