Salmon Arm will be getting a tequila sunrise this May with the Canadian debut of a new liquor that has roots both locally and in Mexico.
Sueños Tequila, founded by local entrepreneur Gord Erickson, will be introduced with a full event titled Sueños Unbottled at the Hideaway backlot behind the liquor store on Saturday, May 31, with live music, food and, of course tequila!
Sueños, a premium, small-batch tequila, is the result of years of hands-on development, including in-house agave cultivation and production at Jalisco, Mexico. Though "proudly crafted in Mexico," Sueños is 100 per cent Canadian owned ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½“ one of the few tequilas on the market with such a distinction, and will be the star of the show at the Unbottled event.
"This is more than a brand launch ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½“ it's a celebration of craft, culture and coming full circle," Erickson said in a media release. "To have a tequila grown in Mexico, built by Canadians, and launched right here in the Okanagan... it just feels right."
The event will put the tequila centre stage with a free Tasting Garden from noon to 4 p.m. hosted at the Hideaway Liquor Store, and multiple outdoor bars serving Sueños cocktails and classic pours. That will be accompanied by a buffet done by the Crown & Anchor, as well as a custom event menu and full bar inside the pub.
Providing a live soundtrack to the launch will be The Whisky Danglers who are reuniting for that night only, the 10-piece Vegas-style showband Famous Players, and a special surprise announcement at 5:30 p.m. that "ties deeply into Salmon Arm's hospitality legacy."
