More than a dozen Vernon dancers are jazzed about an upcoming concert where they will share the stage with some young celebrities.
Members of will back up the popular Mini Pop Kids when they bring their Celebration Tour to the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Saturday, April 26, at 1 p.m.
"We were presented with this opportunity through Mini Pops," said SODANCE Vernon assistant director Katie Becker. "They asked if we could provide some background dancing, as well as perform some of the routines they've been working on for competitions and recitals."
Mini Pop Kids Is CanadaÎÚÑ»´«Ã½™s No. 1 music brand for kids and the original family friendly kids for kids music group. From the world-renowned record label K-Tel, the Mini Pop Kids have been covering family-friendly versions of todayÎÚÑ»´«Ã½™s pop hits since the early 1980s.
Performing with the Mini Pop Kids is a fantastic feather for the dancers' collective caps.
"This is a super amazing opportunity for our kids," said Becker. "It's always special when they get to go on stage, but this opportunity is amazing."
While the dancers have been working on their routines for competitions and recitals since late 2024-early 2025, they've only had a few weeks to learn the Mini Pop Kids' choreography. Excitement at the Kalamalka Lake Road studio, said Becker, has been growing among the dancers and instructors.
"The kids are so excited," she said. "You really can tell, the vibe at the studio is so big right now.
"They're absolutely floored to be able to go out on-stage with live music, live singers, and connect with other members of the dance community."
The Mini Pop Kids' Celebration Tour features a new cast out on a 29-city Canadian tour, with each show featuring a local dance group and choir, making every stop a truly unique experience.
Delivering an exciting mix of chart-topping hits from todayÎÚÑ»´«Ã½™s biggest artists, the Celebration Tour features songs by Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, and Bruno Mars, alongside nostalgic tracks that the whole family will enjoy.
The tour is also in support of the Mini Pop Kids' new album, , a collection of family-friendly renditions of todayÎÚÑ»´«Ã½™s most popular hits including Espresso, by Sabrina Carpenter, and I Had Some Help, by Post Malone and Morgan Wallen.
They also recently had one of their hits go viral on with more than 2.3 million views.
