Online fundraiser starts for Kelowna man injured in scooter crash

Cody Withers suffered a concussion and broken jaw after he and another scooter rider collided on April 6, 2025.

A GoFundMe has been started to support the recovery of Cody Withers after he was injured in a scooter incident. 

Withers was riding his scooter on April 6 when another scooter rider and he collided in the 800 block of Ellis Street in Kelowna around 5:15 p.m.

Kelowna RCMP attended the scene to find the other scooter rider had left before their arrival. Withers was taken to hospital. 

The online fundraiser states Withers suffered a concussion and a broken jaw as a result of the crash and will need surgery to wire his jaw shut in order for it to heal. 

"Cody will also be on a special liquid diet for up to 12 weeks, which adds another layer of cost and care to his recovery. We乌鸦传媒檙e raising funds to help cover missed income, medical-related expenses, dietary needs, and transportation to appointments," the fundraiser reads.

Kelowna RCMP are investigating the crash and are still working to identify the rider who fled the scene. Anyone with video footage of the incident is asked to call police with file number 2025-18072.
