UPDATE 8:00 p.m.:
One man was taken into custody following a standoff with police on Parliament Hill in Ottawa that lasted about eight hours.
The Ottawa Police Service announced at 7:40 p.m. that the incident, which locked down Parliament Hill and had the Parliamentary Protective Service issue a shelter-in-place order, was resolved without incident.
Details about the man's motives and intentions for barricading himself in the East Block on Parliament Hill are not currently known.
The Ottawa Police Service stated that a criminal investigation into the situation was continuing and more information would be made available on April 6.
Parliament is currently dissolved due to the federal election, which means there are few people currently working at the Parliamentary Precinct.

Multiple Ottawa police and Parliamentary Protective Service are in the area of Parliament Hill in Ottawa after a man barricaded himself in the East Block on Saturday afternoon (April 5).
The East Block has been evacuated and but Parliament Hill is under a shelter in place order, which means those in the building are seeking shelter in the nearest room.
There are no known injuries at this time.
Officers are continuing to deal with the individual, who started the incident just before 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific time.
